Future focus on research
Holding a Research Professorship will allow Prof. Rainer Helmig, head of Department Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems (LH²) of the Faculty's Institute for Modelling Hydraulic and Environmental Systems (IWS) to focus primarily on his research for the next 2,5 years. The courses he teaches will thankfully be taken over by colleagues at the institute. Nevertheless, he will not withdraw completely from teaching but continue to take over parts of courses and supervise final theses.
For Rainer Helmig, the conferment of the Research Professorship represents a recognition of his scientific achievements. He hopes that during the forthcoming months he will be able to focus primarily on the research topic of "Porous Media" and devote himself intensively to his doctoral students, the Collaborative Research Center 1313 and the international scientific exchange.
