Prof. Dr. Marios Valavanides is professor of Hydraulics and Porous Media Flow at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of West Attica, Athen/GREECE, and was currently visiting the Institute of Applied Mechanics (MIB) at the University of Stuttgart. For three months (from January to April 2022) he was collaborating with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Holger Steeb and his group to deploy the project 'Laboratory validation of Flow-Dependent Relative Permeability Scaling for steady-state two-phase flow in micro-fluidic pore networks'.

The objective of this research visit is to run a systematic study to validate the provisions of the DeProF theory in order to gain a deeper understanding of the mutations observed in the interstitial flow structure. The scope herein is two-fold: improve flow efficiency (energy transition) and improve core analysis protocols, rock typing etc.

The research work is supported by two complementary grants: the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD - 5752335 Research Stays for University Academics and Scientists, 2021) and the Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA Grants & Scholarship recipients). The local research group is supported by fellow researchers from the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Athens/GREECE.
