M. Matheou, Ph. D., strenghthens adaptive structures area als junior professor

The whole faculty and the theam of the CRC 1244 are happy that Mrs. Maria Matheou, Ph. D., is junior professor the Design of Adaptive Structures in Civil Engineering and Architecture at the faculty since january 15^th, 2020. The position was newly established by the university as a gender equality measure within the framework of the Collaborative Research Centre 1244 Adaptive skins and structures for the built environment of tomorrow.

Her life until now

• 2005-2010: Studiies of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Architecture, of the University of Cyprus, Larnaca/CYPRUS; Degrees: Bachelor of Science and Diploma of Architect-Engineer, Thesis: "Kinetic and Interactive Architecture" (Lambros and Thalia David Award)
• Since 2010: self-employed as architect
• 2011-2014: doctoral study at the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Architecture, of the University of Cyprus, Larnaca/CYPRUS, degree: Doctor of Philkosophy (Ph. D.), thesis: "Kinetic Hybrid Structures"
• 2014 and 2015: Plan, design, review and ensures compliance with Quality, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems at Matheou Bros. Building contractors LTD, Larnaca/CYPRUS
• 2015-2017: postdoctoral study of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Architecture, of the University of Cyprus, Larnaca/CYPRUS , degree: Post-Doctoral Degree; thesis: "Kinematic Analysis and Experimental Testing of an Articulated Structure with Two Actuation Methods of Reconfiguration"
• November 2017-Dezember 2020: Research Associate at the University of Cyprus, Larnaca/CYPRUS in the  Horizon2020-Project OPTARCH-Optimization Driven Architectural Design of Structures (H2020-MSCA-RISE-20152012-2015), longer research stays at the McGill University, Montreal/CANADA and the National Technical University of Athens/GREECE
• Since January 15^th, 2020: Junior professor for the Design of Adaptive Structures in Civil Engineering at the Faculty 2: Civil and Environmental Engineering (Institute for Lightweight Structures and Conceptual Design,)

Forschungsaktivitäten:
