In recent decades, advances in research have led to a better understanding of the extent and impact of microplastics in our environment. This understanding allows us to identify sources and develop innovative solutions to close the "plastic tap." However, there is a need to further communicate this knowledge and raise awareness about the increasing plastic consumption among the population. In the project "#wenigerplastik für unsere Umwelt und unsere Zukunft" (#lessplastic for our environment and our future) of the Institute for Modelling Hydraulic and Environmental Systems (IWS) of the Faculty, an information campaign is being built that not only presents pollution in an age-appropriate format, but also provides knowledge on how we can avoid pollution in the future. Multimedia materials and school visits will be used to introduce all age groups to the latest findings and show them how we can reduce our plastic consumption in the future, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable planet.
