BIM-Award 2022 for graduate of the faculty

Bachelor's thesis of L. Martin, IuI/REEM, distinguished with the BIM Award 2022

In an online event on January 28th, State Transport Minister Hermann honored a graduate of the faculty's Institute of Construction Management (IBL) with the 2.nd place in state's "Building Information Modeling" Award 2022 for outstanding research work. Laura Martin, B. Sc., convinced the professorial jury with her bachelor's thesis „Das Potenzial der Blockchain-Technologie zur Unterstützung von Prozessen der Bauwirtschaft“ (The potential of blockchain technology to support processes in the construction industry) which she completed in the Real Estate Engineering and Management study program.

A total of 54 students submitted projects, six of which were able to present their work and received awards. This is the fourth time that the prize (€20,000 prize money for all award-winning projects together), which is sponsored by HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions, Johann BUNTE Bauunternehmung and Dutch Infrastructure Fund (DIF), has been awarded.

The Virtual Academy A6 was set up as part of the project "Verfügbarkeitsmodell BAB A6 Wiesloch - Weinsberg" (Availability Model BAB A6 Wiesloch - Weinsberg). The Universities of applied sciences Biberach, Constance, Karlsruhe and Stuttgart, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the University of Stuttgart and the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University Mosbach are participating. The aim of the academy is to promote the exchange between research and teaching at the universities and the working practice of companies in the construction industry. Activities such as excursions, project work, internships or student theses as well as public discussion rounds in and around the PPP project are coordinated and designed via the Academy's network. Before next year, we Virtual Academy A6 will be part of the Virtuelle Akademie BIM-Cluster Baden-Württemberg (Virtual Academy BIM-Cluster Baden-Württemberg).
