ENB scale-up tests have been successfully set up in the laboratory of VEGAS in close cooperation with the partners at Technical University of Liberec (TUL) and Photon Water (PWT). Two experiment containers (V = 3 m x 1 m x 1 m) were constructed, equipped with sampling wells/ports, and filled with soil and a zero-valent-iron formulation. PWT/TUL installed power electrodes and a fine mesh of monitoring electrodes, as well as an automatic sampling system. The experiments will provide valuable insights into the operation of ENB under controlled boundary conditions. The goal of this study is to understand the processes involved and the interaction between nanoremediation, bioremediation, and the application of DC voltage for removal of halogenated compounds.
