In 2017, the faculty was even more successful than the University of Stuttgart as a whole in attracting third-party funding. In September 2019, the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden published the amount of third-party funding that was raised at German universities in 2017 (more recent comparative figures are only available internally). The press release states:
"Professors at German universities raised third party funds of an average of 266,200 euros each. For comparability reasons, the medical institutions/health sciences of universities are not taken into account. "
At 732,000 euros, the third-party funding of the University of Stuttgart is far more than twice as high as the average and ranks second among all German universities. With a total of 20,3 million euros (881,000 euros per professorship) raised by all employees, the faculty is still above the average of the RWTH Aachen which achieved the highest third-party funding per professorship (871,000 €).
