In a short internet video, Prof. Manfred Bischoff, Director of the Institute for Structural Mechanics, explains how a much heavier bottle can be hung from a match lying on the table.

Further aids are only two more matches, a string and - for the construction phase - a weight.

The trick: the position of the centre of gravity under the match on the table.
