Two-month research stay by Ivan Yotov from the University of Pittsburgh at LH2

April 26, 2023 /

Ivan Yotov is Professor at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Pittsburg (USA) and Mercator Fellow within SFB 1313. From 1st May to 1st July 2023, he will be visiting the Department of Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems. His research stay is organized and supported by the Cluster of Excellence "SimTech".

Ivan Yotov is Professor at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Pittsburgh and Mercator Fellow within the Collaborative Research Center 1313. His research interests are in numerical analysis of partial differential equations and large scale scientific computing with applications to flow in porous media, computational fluid dynamics, and biomedical problems. His recent work spans multiscale modeling of multiphysics systems of coupled flow and mechanics, advanced finite element and finite volume discretizations, scalable parallel solvers and preconditioners, stochastic modeling, uncertainty quantification, and parameter estimation.

During his two-month stay, Ivan Yotov will work intensively with Edward Coltman, Dennis Gläser, Rainer Helmig, Christian Rohde and Martin Schneider. Moreover, he will give a lecture series in the framework of SimTech, entitled "Mathematical and Computational Modeling of Fluid-Poroelastic Structure Interaction" (15 ETCS). This lecture series is especially prepared for doctoral students and postdocs.

Ivan Yotov's research stay is supported by the Cluster of Excellence "SimTech".
