Queerobics: Sport und Safe Space

On November 4, 2025, members of the University of Stuttgart, the Stuttgart Media University, the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences and the Merz Akademie danced Queerobics for the third time. Following the success of the last two Queerobics events in November 2024 and June 2025, we have once again demonstrated our commitment to openness and diversity.
Queerobics: Group

What is Queerobics? The word Queerobics is a combination of the terms “queer” and “aerobic” and is a fitness class that fuses Zumba and aerobics under the lead of drag queen Dua Look. Queerobics emphasizes the celebration of diversity and the well-being of each individual and promotes fitness and health. The focus is on creating a welcoming atmosphere in which participants feel comfortable and safe.

“Safe spaces for queer people are becoming increasingly important, especially at a time when they are partly disappearing or even being dismantled. I am grateful for the commitment of the University of Stuttgart, which enables people here to work towards creating such spaces, for example in sports,” Dua Look told us.

Queerobics is a joint project with the University Sports and supported by the Diversity Fund. Queerobics was very well received and all three events were fully booked! There were many new faces as well as some participants who attended all three events."

“I think it’s really wonderful that University Sports provides space for queer people and offers events like Queerobics. The instructor guided us through the exercises so well, and it was truly a lot of fun,” one participant said.

Another participant emphasized that the event was much more than just a sports session: “The positive and radiant energy that came from Dua Look reached all the way to the last row. It was an incredibly enriching experience to dance together with so many other queer people and allies. This session showed me how powerful a space full of acceptance and joy can be, and how much the university, the community, and especially I need something like this.”

Dua Look inspired us with her enthusiasm and positive energy! Together we danced and enjoyed an evening full of good vibes!
