Rector Prof. Ressel

Professor of the faculty again elected Rector

June 3, 2018 / Ulrich Rentschler

Third term in office for Prof. Ressel

Prof. Wolfram Ressel, Professor of Road Design and Construction of the Faculty, was elected by the University Council and Senate on May 30th, 2018 for a third term as Rector of the University. He prevailed against one competitor. Prof. Ressel is thus expected to have a decisive influence on the fate of the university for another six years, until 30 September 2024.

After his re-election, Ressel emphasised that the University of Stuttgart was already in good shape. The further increase towards a very good overall state will in future be achieved with more flexible structures, dynamic alliances between the faculties and a variable allocation of resources. In particular, there is a need - depending unfortunately on the not really need-based or even anticipated financing by the state - for a large-scale infrastructure renovation with new buildings to eliminate the great lack of space due to the disproportionate strength of research and the significant increase in the number of students.
