Prize of the Friends of the University for two thesis done at the faculty

One dissertation and one master thesis awarded each

During the general meeting at the Technology Centre of the University of Stuttgart on July 22, the prizes of the Association of Friends of the University of Stuttgart e. V. for special scientific achievements in a dissertation or a thesis were awarded. This time there were even two papers supervised by members of the faculty among the prizewinners.

Dr.-Ing. Bastian Oesterle received one of the three prizes worth €5,000 for his dissertation on "Intrinsically attracting-free shell formulations". This was developed at the Institute for Structural Mechanics (IBB) under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Manfred Bischoff.

In addition, Laura Schmid, M. Sc., received an award for her master's thesis "Simulating electromechanical delay by using a continuum mechanical multi-scale model of the muscle-tendon complex", which she wrote at the Institute of Applied Mechanics (Civil Engineering) under Vice Dean Prof. Röhrle (today Institute for Modelling and Simulation of Biomechanical Systems (IMSB). The prize is endowed with 1,000 €.
