The new IGF project "Fatigue Fastenings" was launched at the Materials Testing Institute University of Stuttgart and the Institute of Construction Materials, University of Stuttgart on 01.12.2018.

Within the framework of the research project, the effect of static loading on the fatigue resistance and the damage behaviour of fastenings in concrete is investigated. For this purpose, experimental and numerical investigations are carried out on various types of mechanical fasteners.

The aim of the work is to close the existing gaps in knowledge on the fatigue behaviour of fasteners under superimposed static loads in order to be able to design connections between steel and concrete in the construction industry both safely and economically.

The IGF-research project "Fatigue behaviour of mechanical fasteners in concrete under superimposed static loads" (IGF-20458 N) of the Research Association Technical Committee Cold Forming e.V. (GAK) is funded by the AiF within the program to promote Joint Industrial Research (IGF) by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, following a decision of the German Bundestag.
