Rail freight transport is an environmentally friendly alternative to road transport. Various promotional approaches have been initiated, e.g. to reduce route costs. How can rail freight transport be further developed in a sustainable manner and thus meet the growing volume of traffic?
These questions are also being addressed by AVG, which has continuously expanded its freight transport services in recent years and sees further market potential here.

Ascan Egerer has been Technical Director of Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (AVG) and Verkehrsbetriebe Karlsruhe GmbH (VBK) since 2014. After starting his career at Deutsche Bahn headquarters in Frankfurt, he held various management and project management positions at DB Regio in NRW and Hanover. He studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig and passed the railroad operations manager examination at the EBA in 2006.
